Ptosis is a condition where the muscles of the upper eyelid lose their elasticity, causing abnormal drooping due to paralysis of defective development of the muscle called levator palpebrae superioris (LPS).

It is primarily a disease of eyelid muscle LPS. This muscle has function of raising eyelid normally and due to weakness/paralysis it is unable to keep eyelid at desired upper level. Thus we see drooping eyelids and person suffering cannot keep up with normal activity.

Patients of diabetes, stroke, myasthenia gravis or cancer are at risk of developing ptosis. It can develop at any age, as congenital –since birth or as a result of disease/trauma. Ptosis can be congenital/acquired or unilateral/bilateral.

Though it is not a severe disease, it affects person’s appearance and leads to emotional and social trauma to patient.

Symptoms:-

- Drooping one or both eyelids.

- Increase tearing

-In severe ptosis, interference with vision

Homoeopathic medicine:-

It is an alternative medical science, which has good scope to treat ptosis depending upon type. It can cure paralysis of LPS muscle and improve general health of eye and also strength nerves, muscle, tendons and connective tissue, without any side effects. Homeopathic medicine has both palliative and curative effects. Homeopathy offers long-lasting permanent cure, treating the disease from its root. Homeopathic medicine works effectively on children as well as adult patient and can be taken safely by woman during pregnancy.
