Haemorrhoids

Haemorrhoids /Piles are enlarged and engorged blood vessels in or around the anus. These may be associated with pain, bleeding, itching and feeling as if a lump or bump is hanging down.

Types of hemorrhoids/piles:

- External hemorrhoids are those that occur outside the anal verge. They are sometimes painful, and can be accompanied by swelling and irritation.

- Internal hemorrhoids are those that occur inside the rectum. Internal hemorrhoids are usually not painful and most people are not aware that they have them.

Exact cause of piles is unknown.

You have an increased risk of getting piles if you are:
